REFUSE
ALL RECYCLABLES CAN BE PLACED IN ONE BIN OR BOX, BUT NOT BAGGED.
  All cardboard must be broken down, tied and separated from all other trash and recyclables. Recyclables cannot be mixed with garbage. The Jefferson County Recycling Law is being strictly enforced. The landfills will not accept and will issue fines for cardboard and recyclables mixed with garbage.
BUDGET NOTICE
Notice, the Board of Trustees of the Village of Dexter will hold its regular meeting at the Dexter Village Offices 509 Liberty St Dexter, NY on Tuesday April 14, 2026 at 4:00pm The Tentative budget for the Village of Dexter for 2026-2027 has been completed by the Board of Trustees. A copy was filed in the village clerk's office. The budget is open to the public. A public hearing will be held on 4/14/26 at 4:15pm to consider final adoption of the Village of Dexter budget for the fiscal year 2026-2027. The compensation proposed to be paid to each member of the Board of Trustees is as follows Mayor $8,000 per year, Trustees $3,000 ea. per year. Taxes to remain the same at 7.50 per $1000. Those with disabilities requiring special accommodations should contact the village clerk 3 days in advance.

The Village of Dexter is Honoring its Service Members! 
The Village of Dexter has launched a Hometown Hero Banner Program as a living tribute for our community to honor past and present members of the Armed Forces.  The banners, similar to the one above, 2.5'X5', will be hung on utility poles lining the village streets. If you have loved one that you would like to honor, please contact the Village Office at 315-639-6260, or Christine Kennedy, Chief of Police, Dexter Police Department, [email protected] or (315) 639-6260
​PARKING
Whether there is snow or not, the parking of vehicles is hereby prohibited on all highways or between the sidewalk and the street within the village of Dexter, between 2:00 am and 6:00 am November 1st to April 1st, violators will be ticketed or towed or both.

Basketball hoops or any other obstructions within the Village Right of Way need to be removed. The Village will not be responsible for any incidents and or damages that may occur from such obstructions.   
VILLAGE OF DEXTER PRIOR NOTICE LAW
No civil action shall be maintained against the Village of Dexter for damages or injuries to person or property sustained by reason of any highway, bridge, sidewalk or culvert being defective, out of repair, unsafe, dangerous or obstructed unless written notice of such defective, unsafe, dangerous or obstructed condition was received by the Clerk of the Village of Dexter; and there was a failure or neglect within a reasonable time after the giving of such notice to repair or remove the defect, danger or obstruction complained of.
